I’m not a fan of the typical style of a bag with a flap cover plus a sub-bag, so I was searching for something better and came across the “formal tote” genre. Since I couldn’t see the actual product, I looked at bags with similar sizes and structures to get an idea. I was torn between three options: the L size, a three-compartment bag without lace, and this M size two-compartment bag with tassel and cord lace. I’m glad I chose this one! The size feels just right when placed on my lap, and both the zippered and magnet compartments have a good thickness, so it’s easy to organize my belongings. The inner pockets in each compartment were also convenient. I was able to fit my wallet, smartphone, handkerchief, tissues, pouch, as well as ceremonial items like a fukusa, prayer beads, and spare stockings. Even in summer, I could fit a parasol and a small bottle without any problem. And it’s really light! Yet, it’s well made and didn’t lose its shape even with heavier items. Having something reliable like this helps reduce worries when you have to attend a sudden funeral.
